PropertyAccess Philippines is hosting its annual Chinese New Year Webinar on January 22, 2023 at 9:00 AM on their Facebook and YouTube platforms with Venus Wang-Lysiak, a Feng Shui Master and Real Estate Practitioner based in Singapore. Prior the webinar, the team was given a chance to sit down and chat with the Feng Shui Master at the beautiful Haraya Residences Pop-up Gallery about her practice and how Chinese astrology changed the game for her Real Estate career and the lives of the people that consult with her.

El: First of all, I would like to welcome you to the Philippines.

Venus: Thank you very much. I'm very happy to be here.

El: This is Property Access Philippines, [and today] we have Ms. Venus. So we're gonna talk about Feng Shui. But before we start, I would like to ask, how was your trip from Singapore?

Venus: it's fabulous. Yeah. I had a very smooth flight and when I came here I was greeted by Shangrila. It's such a beautiful property. I was surprised as I was walking by. The interior and the design is pretty top-notch. Very beautiful. We love it.

El: Since the last time you were here, what was the one thing that you missed in the Philippines?

Venus: Probably the food. Like yesterday, we had a very good lunch. Manila is getting more and more international that you can get food everywhere. Sometimes when I travel to a certain country, it's so hard to find international food.

El: So I heard that it’s really hot in Singapore?

Venus: Yes. The climate right now, I would say it's winter in Singapore, probably 25 to 28 degrees. You know, that's the coolest part of the year. Because when it gets to summer, it’ll be 35 or 36 degrees. So to us, right now it's the coolest period in Singapore. So yesterday when we were strolling down the street, we're like, whoa, seems like Manila is a little bit cooler and less humid than Singapore.

El: Ok so today I want to talk about [real estate & feng shui]. So my first question for you is, when did you become interested in real estate?

Venus: 12 years old.

El: How did that begin?

Venus: At that point in time, my mom and my brother decided to go into real estate. My dad ran into some financial difficulties in running his studio, so we needed to switch in terms of the focus. He was in the news industry. So during that time in 1992 to 1993, my mom decided to go into real estate, but prior to that, my mom had a family friend who was already a Feng Shui master. He was telling us, “Hey, your daughter needs to be the one in real estate and not you”.

Back then I was only 12 years old. I wanted to be a fashion designer. I didn’t want to be in real estate. I wanted all things beautiful. So the Feng Shui master said to me, “Hey, come give me your date of birth” and [he told my mom that I] was so good for real estate.

So my mom and my brother brought me along when they go to the real estate classes. They negotiated with the boss of the real estate firm. They told them, “Nobody can take care of her. Can she come along?” And they said yes. So that was my very first encounter with real estate. Then four years later, I met the Feng Shui master again.

I was at a crossroads because we just finished our old levels. I was thinking about what I should pursue. So he reinforced the thought that in my chart, it says that I need to be in real estate. He told me to just go. And that was my first choice in my tertiary education. Until now I never regret it. Thanks to his advice, I am here with all of you.

El: I find it really interesting since you were so young.

Venus: Right? It's so interesting. It's crazy. So basically once I finished studying real estate, I was [still] underaged. I think I was around 18 or 19 years old. I was doing a lot of coordination work. I was doing callings by checking out the valuation of the properties – where are the houses that I can link the buyers together? There are so many things [to consider].

It's so difficult for me [in the beginning]. For the first two months, I did not close a single deal and I was so frustrated. I [told my master], “Are you sure that I'm in the right space?” Then he said, “Yes. What color are you wearing?” I'm like, “Oh, colors have an impact on us?” So I said, “ I'm wearing white.” Then he said, “White color is your unlucky color. Change [it].” When I changed the color of my top, I closed the first deal of my life.

You know the house that we buy, the floor plan, and the people around us are what makes a person successful. I dedicate my life for the past 20 years, to studying feng shui and astrology and 10 years to real estate. I gave talks and trained people. So really, real estate and feng shui are my passion and my blood.

El: Before this interview, I tried to look into colors as well. I tried to look for the appropriate color to wear. I wore white but I was told that white was an unlucky color. You mentioned in your story that you were unlucky when you were wearing white.

Venus: White itself [is not unlucky], because everybody has a different date of birth. So different people will probably need different colors. For example, if you are a metal element, white color will be good for you. But if you are, for example, a wood element, metal is what would chop you down so that would not be a good element or color for you. So very importantly, we need to make sure that we check your date of birth [to] see what element you are then I can advise you [on] whether white is good or not good for you.

El: So today, we are in Haraya Residences here at Shangrila and there are different settings now for the layout of the bedrooms. I want to ask, is Feng Shui only applicable to houses or is it also applicable to condos and other properties?

Venus: Feng Shui is applicable to every part of the building, starting from the site itself. What is the size of the site? Where does the site face? Is it facing the mountain? Is it facing the water? Is it facing the traffic light? Is it facing the road? We have to take into consideration [all of this] when we are choosing the plot of the land to purchase, and then we’ll see what is the entrance of the condo should be facing to make it prosperous. There are certain directions that we may have to avoid when we are building a particular building or a particular house. For example, different condo units have got different main door directions. So different directions would have a certain element. For example, the north is water. So if my chart says I need water, I need to buy a house with the main door direction facing north. And vice versa, for example, if I'm a wood element, I will need water and wood to nourish my chart.

North and east are water and wood. So for example, if I have wood, I would need the main directions of the condo to be north or east, or even northeast. So I will not choose a direction that is bad for me.

What do you think can bully wood? What do you think can burn wood down?

El: Fire.

Venus: Fantastic. So, this means I will not choose a main door that is facing south, because south would mean fire [because] when I enter the door, I'm being burned ready. So that's why in choosing [an] apartment you have to make sure that the main door facing the sleeping quarters. the kitchen stove, your study desk, and your work desk are all facing the correct directions. We don't want directions that oppose us.

And this changes every year. The native chart of our data doesn't change, but what changes every year is the element. So for example, I am a fire. So I need [a direction] that will build my fire. So 2023 is a water rabbit year. So what do you think water will do to my fire? It's gonna extinguish it. So when I choose a south-facing house, it actually supplements me.

So basically, after you find out what is in your native chart, there are ways to make [your life] better through the career that you choose, through the house that you buy, through the colors that you use, and through the directions that you use.

It's so interesting. It's a very broad spectrum. There are a lot of things [to consider] when we talk about [Feng Shui] and astrology. It’s not just about the color red, or the monkey, or the tiger, you know, these are all representatives and it’s important to [understand] the interactions between all these elements.

El: Should people look more into the feng shui of next year before the year ends or should they look more into it right before the start of the Chinese new year?

Venus: I think it's always good to focus on [the feng shui of] next year before the year starts so that we can do preparation work the year before or way earlier. I've got one case where they knew that 2014 is gonna be a bad year. So two years before, she starts to do a lot of charity work [to plant] the good seeds in order for karma to hopefully not be so harsh on her.

It is good that you take precautions or you do the reading way before That's why from the nature chart, you'll be able to tell your 10 years luck cycle. And from there, we can investigate which year [to be wary of] so that we can take precautions.

There are certain years that are not good for investment. There are certain years that you have to go all the way out and capitalize on your good luck cycle to make the money. So I think adequate preparation is only the route to success. As Michael Jackson said,  you study history in order to make success for your future. I feel that astrology is something like that. You studied the past and your element and you’re [able to] predict and prevent [bad] things from happening in the future.

El: So every decision sort of has a tie to your zodiac?

Yes, correct. So for example, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. Their day master is the monkey, and last year was [year of the] tiger. What happened to them? They clashed. Our very famous and rich Mark Zuckerberg had his network cut by half. Elon Musk appeared in the court case of Amber Heard.

El: Are there any myths around feng shui that you want to debunk? There might be some stigma around feng shui.

Venus: People think that you can use [feng shui] to manipulate people. I would say for feng shui practitioners, you have to be very ethical because you can influence their life. So you have to do it in a very ethical way.

There’s a saying that in the house if you were to see your window from the mini door, that is bad – that the money would not stay in the house itself. This belief actually holds a certain truth in it. What does this mean? For this example, when you can see your window directly from your door, [incoming] money will just flow out. Normally we do remedies, for example, we do a partition wall to block it so that your energy and money stay in the house.

For a very logical person, you would think, “how does Chinese astrology even exist? How can it function?” So I've got this debate with my professor – very Christian and doesn't believe in astrology at all. He uses another set of [methods] to study human behavior. He uses a hundred questions to determine the person's thinking patterns, personality, and behavior to focus on what this person is likely to do.

I use Chinese astrology in which from the date of [our] birth, somehow our path is already predestinated. [It is an] ancient teaching, which originated from five to 6,000 years ago. At one point, he studied what I study and I endorsed his research which was very useful as well. And we actually crossed each together. [We reached a mutual understanding.] We no longer fought, and we merged the two studies together to teach and empower people.

So Chinese astrology is based on [ancient teachings from] five to 6,000 years ago. We just prolong and spread these studies. I hope that more people can actually benefit from this. And [not consider it as a] myth. I will say that it is based on very accurate mathematical calculations. To me at this stage, I am still amazed by how our ancestors did it. The calculation is in-depth and very precise. For example, our lunar calendar enters the new year on the 4th of February at 10:33 am. It's not 10:34, it's not 10:32. It's really precise.

So basically, we're adopting what they studied and what they have developed and then, we apply it to our modern world

El: Yes, that is amazing.

Venus: If you want to know more about this, please follow my Instagram at @venusology03. That’s Venus plus astrology together and the number three because three is my lucky number.

Or follow my very new cafe, Venusology Cafe. I hope that we can meet in Singapore one day.

El: Before we wrap up this episode. Can n you tell us more about your cafe?

Venus: I wanted to put all the good things together [in one place]. When we study Chinese astrology, we see the flaws, the health concerns, and the issues of a single person. So the ideology of this cafe is to bring wellness through food, exercise, and fitness to make a person healthy and happy. It is a community where you can meet people from different walks of life, you know? It's a happy place, so that's why I was very, very selective when I chose the property, you know, of this cafe. It had to have all the elements of nature. So basically, it's a very windy place, you know. So there's no air conditioning, so you can feel the trees. There's an outdoor lawn, you can see a lot of greenery, you know, so we get associated with nature.

My philosophy is everybody who comes to the cafe [will not only] eat good food, [but also] feel happy, calm, and relaxed. People can feel peace and harmony, and spread love and kindness. That is my idea for this cafe.

El: That is beautiful. So whenever we're in Singapore, [we can drop by].

Venus: Please come. I'll be very happy to receive all of you.

El: And so that will wrap up this episode.
