Homefluencers: Making millions from their home

The rise of home influencers have changed the name of the game when it comes to social media. Find out how they make millions from showing off their homes.

Social media is no longer just a platform to connect with friends and loved ones — it is also a money-making tool that can earn you a steady yearly income. With that, influencers have become widely popular and have been one of the most sought after job occupations.

With COVID-19, home influencers have risen in popularity as they showcase their homes, interior decors, and DIY projects. Believe it or not, these “homefluencers” as you may call them, rake millions of dollars every year just posting about their homes.

GoCompare, a British price comparison platform, has recently released an International Homefluencer Rich List for 2021 and here are its Top 3:

With over 4M followers on Instagram, she is estimated to be earning over $1.52M a year with just five posts per month. You could say that joy is not the only thing she’s getting when she’s tidying up.

TOP 2: Sophie Hinchliffe (Mrs Hinch)

Mrs Hinch is a cleaning expert that has been a home influencer for a number of years. She’s famous for sharing her cleaning tips on Instagram and Tiktok.

Completing the top 3 is the power couple of Studio McGee. If you are an avid Netflix viewer, you may know them from their show Dream Home Makeover.

With over 2.8M followers on Instagram, they are estimated to be making over $903K a year with their account. Although, they are said to have a reported net worth of $5M, so they might be making more than what is estimated with their Instagram.

While going through the list, you might be wondering, “how do they make a lot of money by posting their homes?” The answer is simple: through sponsors. Businesses pay them to post about their products because of their highly-engaged followers. Compared to running a full page ad in a magazine, businesses can see people’s engagement real time with their brand through these home influencers.

Aside from that, different brands utilize the uniqueness of these influencers and how they create content with their homes. Most of the time, they create custom content that even the brands haven’t considered before.

These influencers also allow ads into their content. Creating content with monetary support not only allows them to earn from it, but it also allows them to widen their reach and potentially gain new followers. It’s a win-win situation for both the influencer and their collaborating brands.

Most importantly, they cultivate long term partnerships with their sponsors. In order to achieve that, they need to add value to their content to make sure that their partners can use it for their own marketing, and that their own followers still relate and enjoy their sponsored content.

Who said earning money by being an influencer is easy? It could even be more challenging especially for home influencers that need to showcase their whole entire home.
